How it Started!
How it Started!

Victory Lanes was opened by Mike Marote "Uncle Mike" as a small 5 lane bowling alley (NOT AUTOMATIC!) in approximately 1938. Later on, in the late 1940's or early 50's they put it 3 more bowling lanes. After a fire in the 1950's Uncle Mike put an article in the newspaper. He said:

"We would like thank everyone during these hard times and for your business. We are going to open a 10 lane fully automatic bowling alley"
Mike Marotte
Victory Lanes proprietor 1938 - 1986

People kept score by hand and they loved it. In 1986 Uncle Mike passed away and his son and wife became the owners. Untill 1987 when they sold it to us. We kept it a 10 lane family bowling alley. It has been 16 years now and we have did some changes. Some of our changes were automatic scoring (1996), new ball returns (2000), etc.!

Before a Bowling Alley!
The orignal building was built in the early 1900's as it was a Nash car dealer.  Later in 1923 the Cairney Garage was open in the building. At that time the building was the same size! In 1938 Mike Marotte bought the property and built the orignal bowling alley, resturant, shuffle board court, and lounge which was called Victory Recreation!  The extention was added in the late 40's early 50's before the fire which brought 8 more lanes.  Later after the fire the building was fixed up and re-opened as Victory Lanes which it remained until January 5, 2004 which was the last day of bowling!

What will be there next?
The Historical Victory Lanes Recreation building will be knocked down in March 2004 to make way for another bank.  Yes, another bank.
